Family Night : Chicken Soup For The Soul

Our family meets together nightly for a family discussion, but one night a week we try to make it more special. This is our Family Night.

Sometimes it is hard to connect with family members in the fast paced world we live in, so making this family time mandatory and starting it young helps to facilitate connections throughout your kids lives.

During our Family Night we like to show a video that teaches something. Right now we are watching episodes from the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inspirational Stories Honoring Family There are many other DVDs in this series including Chicken Soup for the Soul - The Gift of Love and Chicken Soup for the Soul: About Life's Lessons and Chicken Soup for the Soul: Triumphing The Human Spirit , among others. They are perfect for Family night because there are many short episodes on a disk. We usually watch two and then discuss them a little bit. We also sing songs and share a treat.

I think it works just like Netflix, but it only offers inspirational DVDs. I can't recommend it just yet because I haven't tried it, but it looks promising.

Family night has made a big difference in our family. Even if your kids are older I still recommend trying it. You can also play board games or do a family activity such as miniature golf or something. Anything to get the whole family together.
