15 Best Board Games For Family Fun And Happiness

Funglish
Sometimes its hard to plan activities that the whole family wants to do together.

Watching TV is usually successful, but many families would like something more interactive. There are usually expensive activities out in the community, but the beauty of board games is that you can keep playing them week after week for free.

We have a family game night every Sunday and my kids really notice if we miss it. We have purchased a lot of games, so I will tell you which games we like the best.

Funglish (We found this is much more fun if you turn the timer over twice)

WaveLength

Scrabble

Sorry

Clue

Pass The Bomb

Yahtzee

Pictionary

Ticket To Ride

Buzz Word

Compatibility

Apples to Apples

Cranium

True Colors

Trivial Pursuit

Of course this is not a comprehensive list as one family can't buy all the games in the world, but we have bought plenty of games that we didn't like and never get any play time. The games on this list get a constant rotation. Please be aware that they are not for very young children. Sometimes we have to give our youngest child something to do while the rest of the family plays.

Two games that are on my wish list are:

Settlers of Catan

Puerto Rico

Games are supposed to bring family togetherness and fun, but perhaps you haven't had success with your family board game sessions. When I was clicking around I found this inexpensive ebook ($3.95):
10 Best Board Games For Family Fun And Happiness which is supposed to give tips on how to make the most out of your family board game time. I haven't read it, but it might have some good ideas.

What are your favorite games?
